John Beaulieu, N.D., Ph.D. ©2017 This protocol is included in my book Sound Healing and Values Visualization.

The cancer protocol can easily be modified to work with heart disease, autoimmune disorders, digestive disorders, sexual disorders, and depression. When you see “cancer” just substitute the health challenge you are working with. The sound healing process is based on the assumption that anyone with cancer (substitute any heath challenge for cancer) wants to live a life of value. Although we think of fighting cancer as receiving chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation, there is a much larger and often overlooked dimension. If you are fighting cancer, you might ask yourself, “When cancer goes into remission who will I be? What will I do?” The answers to the above questions require a future visualization, but the feeling tone created by a future visualization is in the present. Research studies show that happy, joyful, loving people live up to ten years longer than unhappy people.2 The thought of a future filled with love, joy, optimism, and happiness stimulates our body’s ability to create oxytocin, dopamine, nitric oxide, and endorphins, all of which signal our body’s natural cancer-fighting abilities.

Process Example

Visualize and describe yourself living in the future without cancer. Ask yourself these questions, “When the cancer is gone, what do I really want to do?” “How will my life be different?” Next, look over your answers and determine your values. To do this, you will need pen and paper. Sit quietly or with another person or group that you trust. Begin by reviewing and/or sharing your vision and writing down the personal values contained in your vision. For example:

Example 1: When the cancer is gone, I’m going to walk out of here and play a lot of golf. I’m going to travel to different countries and play lots of new golf courses. I’m going to compete and have fun and afterward sit with friends and acquaintances and talk, laugh, and enjoy good company.

Values: Competition, achievement, coaching, adventure, friendship, fun

Example 2: When the cancer is gone, I’m going to slow down my life pace and appreciate my family. I’m going to make time for family dinners and for going on family vacations. I’m going to go off on my own and have adventures and share them with my family.

Values: Family, patience, listening, caring, adventure, future generations

Once you have determined your values, always ask yourself, “Am I open to different ways to express my values?

Next, to tune into the feeling tone of your visualization, describe it in sensory words. For example:

I am at my studio and sunlight is streaming through the windows. I look at the paint on my hands and clothes and I feel like a rainbow. My paintings are everywhere and are illuminated by the sunlight. I can feel the textures of the colors with each breath. I hear the voices of my friends at the door. I open the door, and everyone is happy and excited as they see my studio and paintings. Our conversation about painting is like a flowing river of sound. We’re hungry and we eat sitting near the window. The taste of the food and the sound of my friends’ voices merge into a feeling of community.

Once you have a sensory visualization, read it out loud and/or have someone you trust read it. During or after the reading, create sounds. For example: When the reading of your sensory visualization ends, knee or activator tap the C & G tuning forks, bring them to your ears, and be with the sound.

• Stand in a safe space. When the reading of your sensory visualization ends, take a deep breath and tune into the feeling tone of your visualization. Tap the C & G tuning forks together and allow your body to move with the sounds. Continue tapping and moving.

• First choose your target. For example, if you have lung cancer then let your lungs be your target. You can be as general or as specific as you want to be. For example, if you have had an MRI or have a specific anatomical location you want to focus your attention on, you can guide the sound and your feeling tone to that area. For example, sit in a safe space. Take a deep breath and tune into the feeling tone of your visualization. Knee or activator tap the C & G

tuning forks and bring them to your ears. As you listen to the sound, visualize it going into and vibrating your target area.

TUNED HUMMING SESSION EXAMPLE

Preparation: Sit in a safe space. Take a deep breath and knee or activator tap the C & G tuning forks. Close your eyes and mindfully listen to the sound and hum with a sound that resonates. Remember your humming sound, take a deep breath, and then hum without the tuning forks. Next, hum with the tuning forks and, again, hum without the tuning forks.

Session: Tune into the feeling tone of your visualization. Imagine being inside the sound of the tuning forks and hum. Allow the humming to move throughout your whole body and, at the same time, you may choose to send the sound to a specific area. To create a circuit, place your hand on the target area. If you are lying down, place an open hand, if possible, on the back of your neck where your skull meets the spine (the soft tissue just inferior to the occiput and over C2). Place your other hand on the target area, take a deep breath, and then hum. The hand at the base of your occiput helps to relax your vagus and trigeminal nerves; this will enhance the healing power of the sound.
