Where does the term Solfeggio come from?

The term Solfeggio comes from a traditional music-learning system that uses the syllables Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Si to help students learn musical notes and intervals. Many people recognize these syllables from songs such as Do-Re-Mifrom The Sound of Music.

The origins of Solfeggio can be traced back to medieval music traditions and a hymn known as The Hymn to St. John the Baptist, written in the 8th century. Over time, the syllables evolved into the familiar Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Si used in music education today.

The BioSonics Solfeggio Tuning Fork Set includes six frequencies commonly associated with the modern Solfeggio scale:

  • UT (Do) – 396 Hz
  • RE – 417 Hz
  • MI – 528 Hz
  • FA – 639 Hz
  • SOL – 741 Hz
  • LA – 852 Hz
